Duane Shepherd/Guitar/Vocals:
Founder of Duane's Daily Grind, and the only original member, he has been playing guitar since 1989. Duane's Daily Grind was formed in 2002 and started out as a power trio with a major influence on the guitar and lead vocals by Duane. As the years went on, changes were made and a lead singer was brought into the group, but the band continued to be a guitar driven band, and until this day that has not changed, and with Duane on guitar, it's just what has to be. Currently, Duane is on Vocals again as the band looks for another frontman. Duane won the King of The Blues guitar competition at Guitar Center for the state of Rhode Island in September of 2009. He has been in a number of bands including the first Basement Blues Band, Code Blue, Against the Grain, and Blues Wagon with the late Rick Mendes. Duane gained most of his experience playing out with Blues Wagon where he played over 100 gigs within a 9 month time period. Blues Wagon gave him the confidence to take his playing to the next level. Guitar players who are a major inspiration to Duane are Texas blues men, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert Collins and Freddie King, to the soulful Roy Buchanan, and Pioneers Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, and Jeff Beck. Duane's equipment includes Fender guitars (he's a lefty) , Fender and Peavey tube amps, and miscellaneous stompboxes. He resides in Warwick, Rhode Island with his wife, Marci. Duane recently returned to Electric Boat Corp. as a Painter/Sandblaster. Duane also enjoys reading and his favorite authors are H.P. Lovecraft & Robert E. Howard, both famous pulp writers of the 1930's. He is also inspired by the music & vocals of King Diamond and the late Great Frank Zappa. Duane also receives inspiration from the late Paul Murphy who was his mentor. He has also studied guitar with, Duke Robillard, Ed Vallee, and Tom Enright. Duane is a versatile musician who can play just about anything, but he tries to stay true to his roots, and is proud to be able to do a variety of music which he can tailor to the needs of any of the clubs he plays at, and he has worked hard to find musicians to back his project and understand the foundation of Duane's Daily Gind and understand the direction he feels is best for his band. Duane and Marci have been married for 8 years and have a 2 year old son, Daegan. Without the support of his family, he would not be where he is today musically and is thankful for their continued support and guidance. Duane also found a new appreciation for not only music, but for life after the birth of his son. He now has a whole new inspiration when it comes to his music in his son who has also at a very young age shown great interest in music and the guitar.
Rick Kenyon/Bass:
Rick joined the band in 2009. More information coming soon!
Drums: Duane recently let his drummer, Bill Nolan, go because of a difference in musical taste, and he was not showing an interest in the project any longer, and we are in the process of finding a new drummer to replace him with a musician who is dynamic, versatile, and with positive energy to complete the rhythm section of DDG.
Vocals: We are in the process of auditioning for a lead singer/frontman.
